You must have come across several websites that have repetitive content and websites that have keywords stuffed on their web pages (totally ignoring the advice on keyword density). Then there are websites which contain distasteful content and websites that have grammatically incorrect content that is full of spelling mistakes too.
None of this is going to help. People who think that they can fool search engines are in for a surprise since the search engines have grown really intelligent and they understand all of these gimmicks. Ok, so that is about the search engines. But poor quality content can be detrimental to the success of your search engine optimization strategy in more than one way.
Let’s take the case of grammatically incorrect content or content that has spelling mistakes. This will not only lead to a bad impression about your website but might actually turn off some of your website visitors. You must have heard of cases (and this is even more common with those who are perfectionists) where even a small spelling mistake made the reader of that content extremely furious (I have seen many people react very negatively to such emails; and companies whose marketing departments have sent such emails have lost the orders to their competition even after having a much stronger case than their competitors). So, whether it’s the content of your email or your web page, make sure that it’s correct both gramatically and spelling-wise. Moreover, such bad quality content can actually make the people feel that you are not serious enough about your business and website.
Even if you are not selling anything through your website (you might have a knowledge disemmination website or a simple blog), the quality of content is still important. Such websites thrive on web traffic and if the website visitors don’t find value in the website content they might stop coming to your website — leading to a steady decline in the web traffic to your website. On the other hand, good quality content will keep people hooked to your website. Remember that in this competitive world only the best can survive. So, keep up the quality of your content.
We will discuss this further in the next part of this article.
