The DirectoryContest.com was launched by Mike Dammann on the 6th of November 2006 with a view to finding the top 10 directories which are worth submitting to. It is not your normal run of the mill SEO contest with a variety of rules in place that are not usually seen with these types of contests. However, the rules are fair and necesarry to ensure that the competition winners are indeed directories which are worthy of submission.

Official Website: http://www.directorycontest.com/

The Rules

The rules are for this competition are very straightfoward:

  • The entry must be a directory, no blogs, normal sites etc can enter the competition.
  • Absolutly no on-site optimization is allowed. The directory owner is permitted to add a link using the texts below with a description. No other special modifications that would not be applied to every regular listing are permitted. Such as adding keywords to the meta tags etc.
  • The category where the link is placed cannot be named ‘DirectoryContest.com’ or any variety of; it must be a regular category where regular listings can submit to.
  • The link text must use one of the following “Directory Contest”, “DirectoryContest.com”or “Directory Contest – DirectoryContest.com”.

Thats it, as I said they are pretty simple to follow!

Prizes

The prizes for the competition are listed as follows on the competition web site, however Mike has clearly stated that many more prizes are available as new sponsors join up.

1st Prize: $2,000.00 in cash
2nd Prize: $400.00 in cash
3rd Prize $200.00 in cash

Increased Presence is lucky enough that they have access to a directory which fulfils all of the aforementioned requirements, therefore we have decided to place an entry into this contest.

At this time, we will not publish the location of our entry, however we will publish it’s location prior to the 6th of February 2007 when the competition winner is picked.
