Affiliate marketing is a method of promoting products or businesses online in which the trader gives commission to the affiliate for every visitor and sale generated through his / her websites. In affiliate marketing, the website is an important determinant of your business. If you are starting with online affiliate marketing, the following tips for designing the website can get your business buzzing and help you earn more in a short space of time:

  1. Create a website that stands out from the crowd. Give a short name to your website so that visitors can easily remember it. Invest a few dollars and give a decent look to the site. No pop ups, lightning and irritating ads that make visitors move away from the site. Your website should give a feel to the visitors that you are running a serious business.

  2. Accommodate a section for articles about the products you are marketing on the website. The articles should be short, about 300-500 words. They should be informative and should educate the visitors / prospective customers. The articles may not be about specific product; in fact, you can have articles on a category of products.

  3. At the end of each article, you should include a reference box and other information to the merchant’s sites. Also include a testimonial page on the site – you can collect testimonials from satisfied customers. Cite the benefits of the products you are referring to on this page.

  4. Design the site in such a way so as to include a provision to capture your visitors’ e-mail address and name. And do not forget to ask them for permission to send information about other products (that they might find beneficial) to them. If you get their permission, you can send them product promotion messages.

  5. Find out and implement the latest software for smooth and fast transaction processing. If you can afford, invest some money in advertising your affiliate site through Google Adwords or Yahoo. If your budget is small, advertise on free advertisement sites (there are many free advertisement sites) but ensure that these website are not already blacklisted with search engines or part of link farms.

Remember that the website is the face of your business and it should create a good impression on the visitors.
